The Student Representative Council elections for the 2021/2022 academic year at the University of Education, Winneba, is gaining moment as various aspirants lace their boots to slug it out with their opponents. Electoral activities were scheduled between the 18th and 20th August, 2021 but due to the indefinite suspension a ban was placed on the polls by the Ag. Dean, Dean of Students Affairs.
Inspite of the setback, candidates are still crisscrossing the various campuses to propagate their campaign messages. One of the candidates Felix Donkor Abrante3 who is poised to snatch victory on the day of the elections, has outlined his campaign policies aimed at improving academic activities of students on campus.
According to the candidate, he has “resolved to bring back the data sim card” policy. A policy he says “would ensure the provision of data sim cards with improved data package and improved services by the service providers to mount a mast at the three campuses to augment efficient connectivity.
Since the outbreak of the Covid-19 Pandemic, students have been compelled to undertake online classes as part of measures to break the chain of transmission. In the view of Felix Donkor Abrante3 and his team, “an efficient connectivity would go a long way to assist student in their academic activities”.
Out of the 8 aspirants who went through the vetting Felix Donkor emerged the winner with over 61 percent marks.
