Fighting crime: Sam George ‘illuminates’ Ningo-Prampram; donates 1,000 streetlights to electoral areas

The Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, Samuel Nartey George, has embarked on a project to illuminate the Ningo Prampram constituency to curb crime in the area.
This follows the presentation of 1,000 streetlights to electoral areas in his constituency as part of phase one of a project he is undertaking dubbed, Project Illuminate
.
The project was borne from numerous pleas by traditional rulers and residents alike for vicinities to be brightened to stem the tide of crime which is said to be on the ascendancy.
Speaking at a presentation and handing over of the streetlights on Friday, August 5, 2022, Sam George admonished assembly members in the various electoral areas of the constituency to be responsible for the maintenance of the streetlights.
“This is phase one of Project Illuminate, and we’re doing a thousand streetlights. We’ve received a number of requests from a number of institutions. And so, we have 22 electoral areas in the constituency and so each assemblyman will get 25 streetlights for his electoral area. And that will come to about 550 streetlights to go the assemblyman.”
“And then the reason why we are putting them in the hands of the assemblymen is that we want the assemblymen to be responsible for those lights and the maintenance of those lights,” he said.
