BGCG SMQ: Anomabo Methodist “A”, Ndasimam M/A and Eguase Anglican Schools qualify for finals

Three Junior High Schools (JHS), Anomabo Methodist “A” M/A JHS, Ndasimam M/A JHS and Eguase Good Shepherd Anglican JHS, have qualified to represent their respective circuits, Anomabo circuit “A”, Anomabo circuit “B” and Yamoransa circuit respectively, at the grand finale of the Anomabo chapter of Boys and Girls Club of Ghana’s 3rd edition of Science and Maths quiz competition.
This was after a tough competition with their competitors from Lower Town M/A JHS ‘A’, Obuadze M/A JHS, Yamoransa Mt.Zion Methodist JHS, Amissakrom Ekroful M/A JHS, Briwa Methodist’ B’ JHS and Anomabo Methodist’ B’ JHS, all in the Mfantseman municipality of the Central Region (CR), in the semi-final stage.
The contest between Ndasimam M/A JHS, Lower Town M/A JHS and Obuadze M/A JHS was watertight as the former and the Lower Town M/A JHS had the same points, 25. This took the quiz master, Mahama Acquah, a hectic time before separating the tie after the former had been swift in answering the last question thrown to them correctly. He, the quiz master, was heard complaining that he had exhausted all the questions and that he would have no option but to throw a coin (lot) to select the winner of the competition should the winner was not determined after the last question.
In separate interviews with some of the participants from the qualified schools, they all attributed their victory to their immense preparations and the hard work of their Mathematics and Science teachers. They optimistically promised to win the trophy at the grand finale.
“We’ve been able to come this far by God’s grace and hard work …and our supporters should expect nothing but the best from us at the finals,” Miss Ewurasi Korsima Quarshie of Anomabo Methodist’ A’ JHS assured.
“Actually, what contributed to our winning was proper preparation because our teacher, Sir Joseph Atta Panyin, prepared us very well, and as you know, proper preparation promotes proper performance……so our fans should expect more of us because we’re going to prepare more to come [to the finals] like fire”, Master Stephen Ato Dadzie of Eguase Good Shepherd Anglican JHS opined.
All participants from all the nine participating schools were given sets of note three and note one book plus certificates of participation.
In his closing address, the executive director of the club, Isaac Kweku Quainoo, applauded the participants for their performance and said the purpose of the quiz was to, among others, make the study of the duo subjects lively to the pupils and also prepare them for the National Science and Mathematics quiz when they get to the Senior High School (SHS) in future.
He acknowledged their sponsors, IkeKuQPhotography, ABIJAKES COMPANY LTD., ACCRA, Maame Biamah Akwafo (Peace FM), Mr Ebenezer Amissah Quarshie and SAGE COMPUTERS, Anomabo. He urged them to continue supporting them whenever the need arose.
The date for the grand finale is yet to be announced.
